Village of Cambria (WI)

As part of their civic responsibility, many companies sponsor Little League and bowling teams, but how many sponsor a city's official web site? Here's one example: Del Monte Foods' Plant 108 provides a web presence for the Village of Cambria, Wisconsin as a community service.
This vegetable processing plant in southern Wisconsin clearly states its goals in sponsoring the site on a "cover page" everyone sees before they can enter the site. The area plant manager is quoted, as follows:
On behalf of Del Monte Foods and the employees of Cambria Plant 108, we encourage you to actively participate in local governance, to attend your Cambria Village Council Meetings, and to use this web presence as an information resource of an informed citizenry!
The site itself is nothing to call home about, but is probably adequate for a village of 792 citizens. Although Cambria is located near Portage in Columbia County, Wisconsin, close to many recreational and tourist destinations, the site focuses only on the needs of residents. Most of the information is listed on the main page, where one can scroll down to see listings under the following headings:
- Village President's Welcome
- Village Council Members
- Village Office, Clerk and Treasurer
- Committees
- Department of Public Works
- Fire Department and Ambulance Service
- Small Town Living: Apartment Rentals & Housing Lots
- Economic Development
- Tarrant Park on Tarrant Lake
- Jane Morgan Memorial Library
- Permit Information
- Police Department
- Information about garbage and recycling
Office hours, meeting times and places, employee names, telephone numbers and e-mail links where they exist are given, along with brief paragraphs describing each function.
Economic Development, the Jane Morgan Memorial Library, Upcoming Village Meetings and Events, and Current Village Information and Meeting Minutes have their own pages.
Everything is kept current. It' s not much, but it may be all that is needed for a village that covers only .8 square miles of land area.
