How to Get a Marketing Degree

A marketing degree opens the door for program graduates to work in domestic, international and online marketing. They are employed by large and small companies as staff. They may also work as freelance marketers. Typical degree options range from associate's degree programs to master's degree programs.

Research Marketing Jobs

With an associate's degree, a graduate may work as an assistant or in an entry-level marketing job. A bachelor's degree is the most common choice, and it opens the opportunity to work as a marketing manager. Graduates may work in fields ranging from fashion to electronics, and they typically are responsible for obtaining, retaining and engaging a client base. With a graduate degree, a person may be eligible for research jobs and executive positions related to marketing.

Research Marketing Degree Programs

Some programs are offered online. Most associate's degree and bachelor's degree programs are offered online, but students who are unable to work with online courses may prefer a classroom setting. It is important to choose a setting that meets individual motivation and time requirements. Tuition is another important consideration for people who rely on their own funding or student loans. In-state schools and nonprofit colleges typically have lower tuition, but for-profit schools often provide fast-track programs or accelerated degree options for a higher cost.

Complete Marketing Degree Program Requirements

For most undergraduate programs, the requirement for enrollment is a high school diploma or GED. ACT scores may be required, and some schools have additional requirements. Financial information is necessary for federal student aid if financial assistance is needed. Students who must complete other program requirements for their school's program can take core courses while they do so. These are typically classes such as business management, principles of marketing, principles of management, English and several others. For graduate programs, the requirements may include additional test scores, writing assignments and professional references.

Projected Salary And Job Growth For Marketing Graduates

Different jobs come with different pay averages. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, market research analysts with a bachelor's degree earn about $60,000 annually, but marketing managers holding a bachelor's degree typically earn upward of $100,000 annually. Projected future job growth varies with different jobs, but it is much faster than average for some types of jobs and about average for the majority of marketing jobs.
