Government Accredited Online Colleges in Alaska

Alaskan students are no strangers to online education programs. The state’s wide open spaces have led its public schools and universities to be pioneers in distance learning. In fact, according to the National Center for Education Statistics Alaska is the state that has the highest rate of students enrolled in some or all distance courses at nonprofit 4-year institutions. Although fewer campuses call Alaska home than in other states, there are a large selection of degree programs available.

Some high school students in the state can start their university education early. With the dual credit program, students take college classes online that also count as credit toward their secondary diploma. This program just received a boost with a grant awarded by Governor Parnell to help some districts “strengthen their instruction through digital teaching and learning,” and to provide funding for the dual-credit program.

Alaskan residents have unique opportunities for funding their education as well. With the high-quality programs and opportunities available, there is no reason not to explore online programs available at the state’s institutions. Find the opportunities that you are looking for in our comprehensive list of online post-secondary education in Alaska.
