Government Accredited Online Colleges in North Carolina

Many of the most prestigious public and private schools in North Carolina have begun to offer online distance learning degrees. Compared to the other states, the list of online programs that this state offers is quite extensive; this is largely due to the fact that many of the degrees mirror what is already provided in a classroom curriculum and, often, tend to be taught by the same professors.

Between the years of 2004 and 2014, the cost of tuition at a public North Carolina two year school increased by a whopping 65 percent, and tuition at a public North Carolina four year school went up even further at 67 percent. This is at least partly due to the fact that the state decreased its educational budget for higher education by almost 25 percent.

Overall, North Carolina public colleges have seen an increase in enrollment of 29 percent between the years of 2002 and 2012 in spite of the massive tuition increase. Enrollment for a public two year school increased between the years 2005 and 2010 by 26.6 percent, which passed the national average at this time of 16.9 percent.

Graduation rates in 2012 at North Carolina four year colleges were a modest 53.2 percent, which is less than the national average for the time.
