Government Accredited Online Colleges in Wyoming

The state of Wyoming, in an effort to capitalize off of and offer students the ease of access to affordable and convenient distance learning, created the Wyoming Distance Education Consortium (WyDEC). This consortium consists of the University of Wyoming, Wyoming Public Television, and seven community colleges within the state of Wyoming. The WyDEC is committed to ensuring the quality of content and intuitiveness of distance education in Wyoming. To serve this purpose, the WyDEC committee created WyCLASS, a database of every online distance learning course and program offered in the state's schools. WyCLASS was created to make educational goals more accessible and achievable for prospective and current students.

Of the 37,871 students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs in the state of Wyoming in 2012, 4,228 were participating solely in online and/or distance learning programs. Four-year schools in Wyoming experienced a tuition hike of 10.3% between 2008 and 2014. Plus, 2013 fall semester enrollment decreased 3.9% as compared to the previous year. However, despite the inconclusive nature of this data, it's still possible to interpret that these two factors are related. The state of Wyoming isn't deterred by these potential findings whatsoever; the WyDEC is still determined to provide top quality, distance learning regardless of a student's location.
